Five People You Meet in Heaven #3
Albom writes: "People say they 'find' love, as if it were an object by a rock. But love takes many forms and it is never the same for any man and woman. What people find then is a certain love." (p. 155) In no less than 95 words, discuss Albom's idea of love and describe the kind of love Eddie and Marguerite share? You must use exact details from the text to support your response.

You made me love you
I didn't want to do it...I didn't want to do it
You made me love you and all the time you knew it...
when people say that they find love as if it been hidden or is by a rock because love is hard and confusing you may think you have found it but wind up getting screwed over. love is never the same for everyone everyone has there own opinion of what love is love can be a number of things and for a number of reasons. just like its said people find a certain love it can be forever or could be the moment. most people in there life settle with someone they love at the moment and then wake up one day regretting it and barely even being apart of it anymore others just stop talking and deal with it and just try to stick it out.eddies love for margrett is an endless undying love from the day that they met at the fair to him going to the army and her telling him that she'll wait for him to the car accident and even the day he died 30 years after her he still loved her even in deal the thought of her made him cringe and he wanted to stop time as he always has waned
ReplyDeleteI think that Albom’s idea of love is that he means that there is so many rocks in the world that everywhere you look there is love just like rocks, Because everywhere you turn there is rocks. But no love is the same. It is all different in some way or another. Plus you shouldn’t ever want the same love as someone else has had. That would be really boring. People really only have one true love and someday they will be able to find it and you will know certain of who it will be. It might take a lot of time to figure out who it really is or it might just take a short amount of time. Just like he said it is always different it is never the same.
ReplyDeleteEddie and Marguerite had a special kind of love. As their song says they didn't want to love each other but they made one another love. Both of them had a hard to time loving anyone, Eddie was roughed up by his father and he hated him and didn't want to be like him or have anything to do with him. I don't know Marguerite's story but she had a hard time loving too. So together they found love and for them it was different it was a true and pure love tba only they felt and no one else could see how much it meant to them. Albom's way of love is very different than what's most people believe love is. If you think about it its either you love that person or you don't that simple but not in the eyes of Albom. He believes that every type of love is different and everyone feels it a little differently. For example Eddie and Marguerite's love wasn't like the norm. They were truly in love like no one else, and she waited for him all through the war and even after the war when he was depressed she stayed with him through it all there love never faded it was that deep if love off another and they never thought about being in love with anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI think that by Albom saying this he means that many people think that they have to go out and find love, when really love comes to you. I think he also means that people think of love as if it were an object when really you don't have to source for it when its meant to be it will happen. The song states that “You know you made me love you” meaning there wasn't anything Marguerite could do she was meant to love Eddie and she couldn't have stopped it if she tried. This shows that Eddie and Marguerite didn't have to search for the love that they had for one another it wasn't an object it was meant to be. Marguerite and Eddie could have never been torn apart their love was strong and it was meant to be.
ReplyDeleteAlbom's idea of love is fairly simple, but also complex. In the book, Albom states that "..love takes many forms, and it is never the same for any man and woman". So what Albom means is that you can not find love, but you must feel love and be certain in it. In the book, Albom even discusses what type of love that Eddie and Marguerite shared. On page 155, it says "And Eddie found a certain love with Marguerite, a grateful love, a deep but quiet love, one that he knew, above all else, was irreplaceable". Just by this one quote, you can instantly tell that Eddie and Marguerite were madly in love, and that Eddie would do anything for her.
ReplyDeleteAlboms idea on love is that it is some what random. The song they sing in the story is that of a random love. A love that appeared. A love that they stumbled on and both feel into. Eddie made her love him just like she mad him love her. Eddies love for her is so strong that he gets shivers. Every time he sees her he wants to freeze time. Margerates love is unending and she loves him through it all. The hard and the good she always loved him. The idea of love is that it is random but when it is there you know it. Like the saying its love at first sit. This is shown with Eddie and his wife.
ReplyDeleteTo Albom, loves is a thing that has no constant shape but can be seen by all people. It manifests between two people and holds strong to what they want. However, love cannot be described very much past that, because as it holds many shapes, it cannot be pinpointed and categorized. It must be felt by one to be understood. The kind of love Eddie and marguerite have is the kind that lasts long and seen quickly. A kind most people strive for but will never achieve because true love is sometimes hard to find
ReplyDeleteAlbons idea of love is that love is not as easy as you think. You have to fall deeply in love with someone and know them. Albons idea of finding love is like an object by a rock is saying that it isn't just there and it takes time and sometimes the time isn't right. But eddies and marq love is something incredible and they have loved each other for many years even after she passed away.
ReplyDeleteEddie’s love for Marguerite is endless. From the first day they met all Eddie wanted to do was freeze time so he could spend everyday with Margueritte. As their relationship grew, so did their love. Eddie continued to love Margueritte after she had died 30 years before he did. Even in death, when he sees her, he still gets old feelings and still wants to freeze time and in heaven as well. When Marguerite crashed coming to apologize to Eddie, they may have not spoke very much but Eddie still loved her. He just felt like he was the one to blame. When I’m older, I hope to have the same love that Eddie and Marguerite shared.
ReplyDeleteEddie and Marguerite has a special type of love. His love for him will never end. Eddie loved Marguerite through their marriage and after she had passed away. He said that he wanted to freeze time when he was with Marguerite so he could spend every second with her. Even in their song it explains their love for each other in it. He also said even in heaven he wanted to freeze time with her. When he was in the was he kept a picture of her in his helmet when he fell asleep and she was the only reason he came back.
ReplyDeleteAlbom's idea of love is a very unique one. In his way he explains that no man and woman fall in love the same way. Like the sea, it’s always swaying in really different directions and nobody really knows the extent of the love until the day they get to learn how much they love their significant other. Eddie and Marguerite's relationship(Love) was a very rare one and in the end it
ReplyDeleteended up being her love that he never gave up on. He never lost his love for Marguerite even after she died. The way they met and what they had to go through, it made their love stronger, with eddie being in the war overseas she had to stay behind and pray that he came home alive and not dead. When he did come home he wasn’t in some way himself. But she kept with him and loved him for all that he was even his flaws.
In the book, Eddie found a certain love with Margurerite, a grateful love, a deep but quiet love, one that he knew above all else was irreplaceable (pg.155). When he met Marguerite, it was love at first sight. He told Joe that he was going to marry her, after seeing her the first time. Eddie came into the room all google-eyed and he said " Joe, I met the girl I'm going to marry (pg.53)!" He fell in love with her first and he wasn't scared. He knew she felt the same way. Just like the song...
ReplyDeleteYou made me love you
And all the time you knew it...
Even after her death he was deeply in love with her. "Life has to end" she said. "Love doesn't (pg.173)." Eddie never wanted anyone else because he could never replace her or fall in love again. He even asked her to change her appearance back when she was 47, when she was sick and weak. He loved her for who she was.
