THIS POEM NEEDS TO BE POSTED BY
11:59 PM ON OCTOBER 22ND!
Example:
In my car, I sat
Consumed by a pale yellow aura of nervousness
Waiting… Waiting… Waiting
The park bench not too far seemed yellow too
It clouded everything that I could see.
Then I saw it
The gray straggly hair
Overtook the yellow nerves
Gray everywhere—no escape
I knew my fate
The gray was real
It walked toward me
When it spoke,
To my surprise the words were not gray
But green sarcasm spewing like vomit
Covering the interior of the car
My stomach sinking—
White
White, the color of my face
My emotions inside
A clean slate
I could barely breath
With the turn of the wheel
The white turned to gold
And I was ready
Ready to be bold
Faster than light
A turn once again
Turned to a thump
And the world became
BLACK
Poem: Colors
ReplyDeleteKelsea Morris
Adopted
RED-
Shocked
Didn’t know if it was going to happen
Hoping it did
I said yes.
From there on everything was BLUE
Some parts were a little GRAY
But I had to choose what would be best for my future
Things got a little YELLOW
Then things turned around
I felt safe and secure
WHITE
This was the best thing for me.
In the long and short run.
Everything turned out so PINK and bright
God blessed me more than I deserve
Thankful
TEAL
When we arrived
ReplyDeleteEverything was blue
Our opponents were blue
Blue like the school that they represented
Next everything turned to gold
The color of victory
Knowing we won a match
Gold representing our success
Everything soon faded to black
Black like a cold night sky
A serious state of mind
Knowing that it was over
Then there was no color at all
Everything was white
The feeling of emptiness
Knowing there was no going back
white as the start of of a new experience. the felling of yellow as we start the day the uncertainty of roofing and how it will go. The felling of green as everything seems fine and like everything is in balance until only red is there anger and hate due to someones ignorance red like the blood flowing from the new wound to the body from a nail sticking up. black as the day has drug on and sadness starts to take over as the day fades out slowly
ReplyDeleteThe best day of my life
ReplyDeleteCould have been the worst
I went hunting that morning
And hunting makes me blue
When the 10 pointer walks out
I get very red
I am so scared that I will miss
My face is so red from me not breathing
I pull my gun up and I shoot
The deer is still standing
I turn purple with fear
I missed the deer
I reloaded and shot again
the deer disappeared
I walked up there and seen brown
The deer was dead I didn't miss twice
J.J, I like how you use a little bit of rhyme in this as well. Good job!
DeleteI have an older brother, Quinton
ReplyDeleteHe's 19 almost 20
Going to college and then to the army
He's decision was made about 3 years ago
He told us and it just seemed yellow
A shock to us all not knowing what to think
Both my grandads were in the military
They're golden
One in for 6 years in the army
One in the marines for 23
My mom seemed grey for awhile
However she excepted it
Quinton is going to college for free
Will be an officer when he graduates
I'm very proud of what he's doing
He moved out to go to college and is doing very well
Our family is golden
He has accomplished so much already
The best is yet to come
Anthony, I really liked how you chose the colors gold and yellow. They are so close on the color spectrum, but they have such a different meaning. Good job!
DeleteSo there I stood with purple innocence.
ReplyDeleteHappy as can be.
Realizing the years I had.
The opportunities I was given.
This is where it starts.
My junior high years.
The gray was real at that point.
Walking onto the court for the first time.
Our first of many as a team.
With two years of experience,
Here I stand, white.
My freshmen year, first of four new beginnings.
Each year brings a shiny yellow team.
Each with their own opportunities.
While competitive at most, this sport becomes a stress reliever for the red days.
Upset or mad, being in the gym hitting allows for an escape.
But here I am, senior year.
The day is blue, approaching my last high school game.
Cherishing the memories I've made.
The friendships I shared.
My heart is black.
But rather yellow, as new journeys come my way.
blue
ReplyDeleteHappiness and excited
I get to drive by myself
Yellow
Waiting in line
Frustrated and scared
Driving with a stranger is scary
Green
thought of failure
what do i say when i fail
white
being questioned
Didn't know what to do
or say
Blue
passing it
i drove good enough to pass

PINK
I was happy
Knowing more opportunities were
coming my way
More looks from college coaches
Since I was at a bigger school
They would recognize me.
WHITE
I began to feel numb
Not being with my friends
Not sharing memories with them
our senior year
I was beginning to hate it
I ask if I could move back
And my dad told me I could
I began to feel happy again
YELLOW
Standing out side by the boat trying to get ready for a green day spent out on the lake, smack in the middle of nature. The boat was being a pain, with the light not working to not having a rope on the anchor. The rope was important because we were going to be sitting a lot in one spot. A spot that was gold, and had the nick name glory hole.
ReplyDeleteI started toward the barn which is a common black area for the random surprise of a snake. With a fear of snakes only when surprised it was just my luck to have found one pulling the spool of rope down from the shelf. With a flood of black covering my eyes I leaped backward.
I gathered myself and yelled for my best pal JJ to help me catch the snake. After an intense red struggle the snake showed its yellow glory. A 6 foot black snake. His yellow glory only appeared to me because I was so happy to get him out. Over all the day was yellow, a great day.
It was start of a green day, getting the boat ready for a long day of fishing. It was a green day because a day smack dab in the middle of nature. The boat although was being difficult. The lights were acting up and the rope for the anchor was no were to be found.
ReplyDeleteI headed to the barn that had a reputation for scary surprises. The barn seemed to give birth to large reptiles. Although I am not afraid of snakes when the surprise me I am. As I walked to the barn and grabbed a spool of rope the blackness came back as I jumped back. There was a snake in his yellow glory. A six foot black snake. He only appeared yellow to me because he was so large and amazing.
We got the rope headed to the lake, to our gold area. or as we call it the glory hole.
Kenzie, this is fantastic! I love how you travel through this journey through colors. You have a great writing style.
DeleteI had awoken and had been overcome
ReplyDeletewith an aura of yellow confusion
In a place anew still very confused
I had been asleep for two months
I merely thought I was dreaming
It had suddenly started to feel black
I had thought there wasn't any hope
Though everyone I had known had hope
Hope that I would continue to be well
That hope brought an overwhelming blue to my eyes
It had kept me going
There were times that sadness overwhelmed me
It came over me while I was away from family
It came over me with a saddening pale blue
Although the nurses brought me joy
I came to know them well
Knowing that they were taking care of me helped
It brought an orange ray of joy
The thing that helped the most were siblings
Knowing that they cared so much
It felt great having there support
It brought a red ray of support
I woke up to a beating drum
ReplyDeleteMy red hot blood was running fast
And beating hard in my chest
My nerves were glowing red like fire
My anxiety was burning through my skin
It was my time to compete
The vision of the arena was glowing gold
The announcer called my name
The voices were loud for me to hear them cheer
They were feeling the golden moment and I was seeing gold too.
Before I step into the arena
My dad gave me the pep talk
He said " can you feel the gold in your heart, if you can't, look at the audience because they believe in you."
My heart was glowing with bright gold
When the gate opened
My horse felt my red hot blood
Running through my body.
He took off at the speed of a green light
He felt the gold like I did
I finished my run
My horse did his job by running the green light
I was very proud of my horse
I can see and feel the green in my pocket
Tristan, you did a fantastic job describing your situation in color! I really like how you associated yellow with confusion. Great blog!
DeleteThe swift, cool autumn air
ReplyDeleteInhaled with every breath as I waited
For what my heart had been jumping for..
With the green and brown surrounding everywhere.
Finally, with friends and family all around
The thing in the distance; it came into perspective
As I focused in with the rifle..
The orange lettering was screaming my name.
One quick pull and it was over,
The canister was now gone forever.
A light blue smoke was in the air, as the particles fell
With a million little pieces, and no more to tell.
Chatang, I thought you did a great job creating an image for your reader especially in that very first line. Great Job!
