  1. Zamperini and the other two that survived the plane crash faced many struggles while they were out at sea. Some physical emotions that they had to endure was hunger and lack of water. They only had a bar of chocolate and a couple tins of water. Mac ended up eating the bar of chocolate the first day while the rest were sleeping. They started to survive by killing birds and eating the parts of those that they could and using the rest of them for bait for fish. They also captured small sharks and ate the liver out of those.
As for the mental and emotional part of it, they struggled with not knowing when they would see their family or friends again. Also, keeping each other sane and convincing each other to keep fighting to stay alive. If this wasn’t bad enough, they had to deal with planes searching for them that would fly right over them and they did not see them. As well as the Japanese flying over them and started shooting at them.

    1. Very good job talking about how they caught birds and used them as bait for catching fish. This was an important part of them surviving on the raft. You could have gone into more detail about them on the island and in the POW camp but what you did was good.

    2. Good job on giving details of what they had to eat and drink. Good job on telling us in what situation they were in. You should give some info on what happened more into the book.

  2. There's no doubt that being lost at sea is stressful, scary, and a dramatic experience. Louie became the leader of the group, although he was just as frightened as the others, he had his head on straight and if any of them could get them out of this he's the one. First off he looks through what little supplies they have. A little chocolate, 3 canteens of water, and that's about it. Dividing it up between the three of them and rationing the water, they could last for a couple days at best. However the first night came along, one of the three ate all the chocolate out of pure panic. So there food was gone, they starved for several days until they figured out how to catch fish which kept them alive, but just barely. One of the biggest dangers was sharks. After the Japanese bomber went by and shot up the rafts the 3 of them had to fix it. While they were fixing the raft sharks were all over them and they had to beat them with oars for hours to survive.
Mentally Louie was the strongest, he portrayed a very strong man that seemed to know that they were getting out of this alive. Louie didn't show the others his pain that he was feeling inside, he believed they needed a strong leader and he had to be that leader. Emotionally they were all torn apart, know how small of chance they had of rescue. After each passing day they drifted further from there rescue zone. To try and keep spirits up they talked about life and what they planned on doing when they get home from the war. No one spoke of the plane crash or the fact they had very little chance of survival, each one of them just knew this and didn't want to say it. They were beyond tired after fending off the sharks, it was especially hitting Mac hard and then eventually he slipped away in his sleep and then it was down to two.

  3. Louie and two of his friends are hurt from the plane crash and they are in the ocean on a small craft. They are lost in the ocean without any food or water and without anything besides a piece of chocolate and a bottle of water. Louie and his friends are really strong because when the plane crashed they did not give up and just go down with the plane they founded a raft and that gave them a little hope of survival. Louie had to be in charge of the amount of water and the food each man will get. He decide that each man would eat a small piece of chocolate and a sip of water for each day, so they would have more for the days to come.

Louie and his friends where facing a life and death situation. Louie and his friends worked together to survive the plane crash by trying to catch birds and eating them, because Louie's friend eat all the chocolate when Louie was asleep. They were scared out there by them self and help was not coming to them. They could of just given up but instead they told each other stories about they were going to do when they got home. That was what kept them fighting for their life. When the Japanese shot up the raft they worked as a team to patch it up so did would not drowned. One was hitting and scaring the sharks away and the other two were patching the raft. father they patch the raft they had to work together to pump up the raft up again because the bullet holes let air out.

  4. It was truely unbelievable that they made it threw what they did. They had strategy and they help each other the whole way. They caught fish and ate them and caught birds too. They had sharks attacking them but they made it threw that. They caught a shark and ate it. They where surrounded back sharks the whole time. They had there own plane drive over them and they didn't even see them. They got shot at by Japanese and they missed the. This was a real mental toll on them and they survived.

They had made it to land and they couldn't believe it. Not only did they imbrace 47 days at sea but they lost one of there friends threw the way. They had to take so many different obstacles but they embraced them all. They had to fight threw it and they made it. They all had each other's back and it was very emotional.

  5. Zamperini went through a lot of things that you would think would break a normal person. But in all reality he wasn't a "Normal" Person was he? When they first got on the water Zamperini made his duty to make sure there was food, water, and supplies. Mac on the other hand went crazy screaming they were going to die, But Zamperini smacked some sense into him making sure he didn't cause in trouble and such. After a few days out on the water with nothing but the sea, the sun, and raft boats being attacked by sharks Zamperini started thinking more and more of home and the homemade meals. Zamperini and the others start imagining eating Louise's Homemade food which would temporarily fill them up, even if it was imaginary. After going a few days without water they started getting dehydrated and from being under the sun they had blisters and Salt blisters from hiding in the water. Zamperini started asking God for things, Praying to him, Telling him he would devote his life to him if he could get out of this alive. Bye the time they got off the rafts they were severely dehydrated, Blistered, and underweight.

  6. Well first he was in the superman flying with eleven good men to bomb some Japan base but after they bombed it plain shot at them they fought back getting the plains but the plain was busted and people were hurt. Then the plain gave and into the water they all went eleven men and only three made it Zamperini, Mac, and Phil with two small two men air u boats, a flare gun, a few chocolate bars, hooks, and some water to survive with. Well first off the hooks were of no use because of the lack of bait then Mac panicked the first night and ate all the chocolate bars, sharks followed trying to eat them, Japanese air fighter tried to kill them, they lost a boat and what's worse the one that was left was filling with water fast and the sharks were jumping up trying to get them so there whacking them patching, holes, and pumping all day and all night then after that poor Mac gave the last he had in him pumping and fighting sharks he died. Well emotionally im sure Zamperini was scared and sad physically he wasn't doing good pretty much dieing of no food or drinkable water and right when their close to death this beautiful day comes they don't feel hunger tired painful nothing just peace until night. after a while they see an island but that night a storm happens and they do everything they can to stay alive through it. Then at some point in time they both fall asleep and wake up on or near the island and get found by Japanese they first get to this nice hospital there for two days get food water and health care then they get taken to the evil prison where their beaten spit on interrogated experimented on and surprisingly they find one good man there but still in hell barley kept alive they think there days are numbered but they live on only to be put in a worse place then that one a secret interrogation camp
